Real Estate and Online Advertising

The digital age has ushered in new ways to market a real estate property for sale. While the traditional means of print marketing is still effective, the internet allows real estate agents to list their properties for less. Aside from the cost savings of online advertising, it also offers a far greater reach than print marketing.

Here are some basic campaigns to help you sell online real estate:

• Create a website for your agency or yourself and have it optimized. Search engine optimisation entails fixing the code and content of your site so that it targets keywords which potential buyers are using to look for properties over the internet.

• Join real estate forums. You’ll find that doing so isn’t just helpful for getting advice, some forums actually allow you to post your latest real estate listings.

• Post banner ads. Banner advertising has been around for some time now. Though this is one form of advertising that actually requires you to pay, it is quite effective. Look for a website with high traffic. If you are planning to spend money on this form of real estate advertisement, you should ask for a media kit or at least the demographics of the site. Find out also what kind of payment scheme they have. Some will charge you on a monthly basis. Others have a cost per thousand impressions. There are even sites that allow pay-per-action, so you don’t have to pay until an action is completed (such as lead generation).

• Check out classified ads postings. You’ll find that most online classified ads have a real estate section that can let you list your property for free. These are often visited by thousands of users who are still in their search mode. Make sure you include your contact information for any inquiries they may have. Adding a photo of your property also increases clicks to your ad.

• Try email marketing. If you already have a strong client base or have other lead generation activities, email marketing is something you can use to bolster your campaigns. You may also rent lists from bigger media sites that target the homebuying market.
