Choosing a Real Estate Agent

Whether you are buying a property or selling it, having a real estate agent is advisable. Some people prefer to sell their own property to avoid paying commissions. There is no problem with this, but you may be missing out by not having an agent.

The following is a list of activities that agents usually do for their clients who are buyers:

  • Helping you find a property via their database.
  • Set up open house viewing or private viewing of available properties for you.
  • Help you choose the right property among different options by providing you with objective data.
  • Negotiating on your behalf for the purchase of the property.
  • Help you complete the necessary paperwork.

For clients who are sellers, on the other hand, a real estate agent can help you with the following:

  • Find a valuator that would help you understand the value of your property
  • Organise property viewing and manage inquiries about your home
  • List your properties in prospect database as well as in other channels for selling properties.
  • Handle negotiations for the sale of your property.
  • Prepare the necessary paperwork such as the contract of sale.

Now that you know what they can do for you, you might want to prepare your questions before selecting the final real estate agent to represent you. You can start off with the following:

  • Are you licensed to sell real estate?
  • How long have you had this license?
  • How long have you been active in this region?
  • How much do you think the property is worth?
  • Do you have references from past clients?
You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
